Few organisations give graduates a genuine chance to make the world a better place. Oxfam does.
By harnessing the power of more than a million staff, volunteers and supporters, it's tackling the big issues. Like helping poor people prepare for the more frequent and severe natural disasters caused by climate change. Helping farmers adapt to the unpredictable weather so they don’t go hungry. And pushing governments to come up with a fairer deal for everyone.
It's urgent, vital work. And it calls for passionate, committed, enthusiastic people. People who’ll be vocal, take risks and challenge the norm — and who’ll be ready to shoulder their share of responsibility. So graduates who join Oxfam's Voluntary Internship Scheme can forget tea rounds and shop runs. The scheme is planned round the precise needs of the organisation. Graduates can have a real impact — whether they volunteer part–time for three, six or 12 months.
The roles could be in Oxfam's Oxford Headquarters, a shop or a regional office. And they range from Deputy Shop Manager to placements in HR or Marketing. But whether graduates help to plan an event, manage a campaign or run a shop, they’ll learn just how a major international Non Government Organisation works and enjoy an open culture. And although the work is unpaid, the scheme reimburses reasonable local travel and lunch expenses.
For graduates who want to save lives and campaign for lasting change, it's a fantastic way to build a CV thatll get noticed.
